    Production number decode

A friend of mine aquired a '73 911 targa of dubious orgin. The only thing for sure that we can identify is the number under the radio. Can this some how be turned into a vin/ serial#?

Not directly. Porsche can verify if the two numbers match or do not match; nothing more.
If you post them or PM them to me I can check to see if they are reasonably close.

    Hi Joe,

The PN for a '73 Targa should be 113XXXX. The '1' is 911, next is '1' for Targa, then '3' is for '73. The last four numbers are sequential for the production of the Targa shell and has nothing to do with the model.
