    It does indeed look very similar, but the bezel on the 911R/906 buttons are relatively flat, while this is one is rounded.

    Hi George - good to see you back

    sorry for hijack....but I picked up a similar one the other day (found it by accident) to use for my cold start button- looks identical except the locking nut is chrome as well and the bezel seems to be flatter (just angled down). However it is marked "Bulgin" "England"

    do you know anything about them?

    the button is indeed convex...and the bezel is steel of some sort - not plastic and not aluminium. In fact it is an integral part of the body - not really a bezel like yours at all.

    it is fastened by the nut on the other side of the dash or whatever. The whole unit is quite heavy - certainly not what Porsche would have put in an R

    That looks a lot like an early 356 back-up light switch and the dash mounted 356 Pre-A push button starter switch. I'll bet you could garner some interest with the 356 folks on the 356 Registry web page.
