    Seat belt mounting

    Quick question, as my car is at the shop. Does the 72 911 have threaded seatbelt mounting holes in center tunnel and sill, or are they brackets only that attach under seat. Mine are the latter, but not sure if it was original and trying to fit a set of harnesses.

    Don't believe they mounted the seat belt receivers on the tunnel until later on. And when they did, the mount is a U-bracket welded to the tunnel (you would see it if there). You can retrofit if needed by replicating the factory mount. I fabricated a mounting bracket out of a short length of trailer hitch square stock, then used a large bolt and a DOT-sized washer and lock nut through a hole drilled in the tunnel.

    The factory harness receivers attach to the mount via bolts/nuts and nylon washers as shown.

    Until 1974, the seatbelts were mounted on the seats. The 1973 and earlier cars had the lap belts attached to the seats.
