    Arrive and Drive Programs

My column in Vintage Motorsport magazine this month is about arrive and Drive programs. They make a lot of sense for any number of people. You can find the column here.

    Thumbs up

    Richard,
Well said comments. I've been using arrive and drive services for the past 12+ years with Phil Bagley at KlubSport and Mark Eskuche at Ecurie Racing, which is the only practical way that I could go vintage racing at this level. I never would have been able to take care of a car and drag it around the country with my work and family obligations. Your comment about climbing out of the car on Sunday and getting on a plane home without worrying much about what what happen before the next time that you "arrive" couldn't be more on target.

I once saw the Emory Motorsports gang show up at Infineon for an event, and I was blown away at the quality of the set up, and the quality of the cars. I fell in love with all the cars they had...from the 906 to the 356 coupes and speedsters. Emory seems to run a nice operation. Wish I could afford it... I just stick with autox and track days until I win the lotto...

I agree with RSR. I use 901 Shop for my arrive and drive and found that my custom spec'd trailer, truck was money NOT well spent. I needed at least 1 extra day on either end of a weekend to make it to the races + I had to take the car to the shop to get it ready (over the items that I could handle myself). I ended up bringing my trailer to 901 Shop for them to use as required and I have them take care of the rest now.

Car is always ready, preset for each track and tuned during the weekend. They take care of feeding the car, myself and my family/friends, help with hotel arrangements and track paperwork. If anything goes wrong, they have enough parts to keep me running competitively all weekend long. I don't even bring my own pit car anymore.

Track days and racing weekends are fun again and more compatible with work and family commitments. Cost is higher unless if you factor in the cost of not being in the office.
