Marbles in my muffler or was I towing tin cans?

I spent Friday at Pocono in my 70 911 (3.2l, 915 trans) with the Audi Club. Other than the bad gas cap spewing gas all over the North Course, it was a pretty good day.

I packed up and left about 4:30. When I was leaving on the access road to the tunnel there was a huge noise coming from the rear of the car like there were about 5 marbles in the muffler. (It also sounded like I was dragging tin cans). It started when I decelerated from about 25mph.

I stopped the car checked everything. It was not coming from the engine. I pulled away and when I decelerted it did it again. I stopped. Then it was fine . I drove home (about 60 miles) with no problem and no noise. It did it once again decelerating right before my driveway. Nothing since.

    Any ideas?

Likely a baffle or two have broken loose inside the muffler, you may be able to see it through either the exit or entrance openings, may need to be opened
    and re tack welded...Bert

Thanks. I have already been in touch with Ben from M&K. He will inspect it for me. This seems like the easiest place to start.
