Thread: RS flares or factory?

  1. #11
Your flares are SC flares, keep them or go back to original! Dos not affect value a lot, it is up to your taste....

The SC flares aesthetically are a better match to the front flare of a 69 or newer car IMO due to the consistent lip thickness ,though the RS flares are a more period correct mod. Beautiful car btw! Leave it. curious that they were avail in 74 though. Steve

After trying to order the RS flares twice, and the dealership not wanting to cut a break on the wrong SC's. We decided too use a set of used SC's that were hanging around the shop. We were very pleased with the way they looked. The flair ridge lines matching the front, just looks a bit cleaner and crisper. Like maybe the factory got it right with the SC lines. Sorry about the picture quality. Car is at the body shop(next to the 73) finelly getting the front end fixed, visitition is not untill monday.

Are the RS flairs really still available from Porsche? I know they were about 5 yrs ago but I thought no longer. Does anyone have the part numbers?
    Thanks, Rich

What a great car, Dave. I agree with the group. Keep the flares and enjoy it. FWIW; I had the hard edges taken out of my SC flares just because I like that look.

I did a photoshop tone job on your photo... hope you don't mind.

I think what are typically called "SC flares" are really '74 and later Carrera flares. When I see '74 and later Carrera's I see the same defined edge that's on the SC's.

That would jive with the fact that the flares were installed in 1974.

Too funny on adding tone to my photo, Mark! Now about that Momo wheel... I want one like Bob Tilton's! I left you a voicemail.
