    Drift HD170 In-Car Camera

    Finally pulled the trigger on a proper in-car camera. The GoPro is the obvious choice I suppose, but I was never really happy with those. Video quality is fine, but flimsy-looking construction, no preview screen, no remote microphone jack, no remote start/stop. So I went with the Drift HD170 Stealth that some of the guys were using at SnoDrift Rally. Slightly more expensive but ... what a camera! It's 3x bigger and 3x heavier than a GoPro. Has a rubberized body, wireless remote control start/stop, remote microphone jack, built-in speaker, rotatable lens, 4x zoom, several slow-motion settings, SD memory card and an LCD screen. Resolution is the same as the GoPro HD. I'm going to do some test videos Sat.

    I mounted the remote control on the steering wheel so I can control the camera without taking my hands off the wheel.

    The camera is mounted to the windshield on this one. Getting all sorts of reflections. Set at medium resolution (720P). Need to move the camera back away from the glass like the first vid.
