    Lightbulb harness bar in a '71 T

    Hello,

I am willing to buy a harness bar for my '71 911T. I want to keep the access to the back seat for my kids so I do not want to bolt the harness to the back.
i saw the sparco for sale but not in Europe where I live.

Any suggestion / pictures / where to order ?

    Thank you for your help.

If interested I'll be at the Spa Francorchamps Classics May 28th.

    Merci

    Didier

    Didier:

I have a Stable Energies Harness Bar (http://www.stableenergies.com/Guide-...ductinfo/GB2C/ which is easy to put in and take out. I use it with my Schroth Rallye 4 Harness.

The shoulder straps do use the rear seat belt attachment points. When I am not using the harness, there is a separation point (note the buckle at the harness bar) that allows me to move the harness out of the way (the straps go behind the rear seat back). This allowed my children to use the rear lap belts with no problem.

    My install looks like this:

Just a comment. The door pillar seatbelt mounting holes in my '71 T are 3-4 inches higher on the pillar that those in my '74. The harness bars I have used match the location of the '74 and might not work with my T (never tried). It might be because my T was made by Karmann... or fixed belt cars have different mounts than retracting belt cars. Something to look out for.

    Mike,

The ends of the stable energies bar are threaded and can be shortened by about 4" to adjust for things like that.

Understand. Forgot how much they adjust. My problem with the Stable Energies bar when I had one (at least 10 years ago...) was the seat wouldn't go back far enough for my long legs... so I switched to a Weltmeister bar - the one with the offset that moves the bar back. I don't think the Weltmeister would work in the '71 as it has no width adjustment.

I would still be concerned about the height of the harness bar above the seat backs with the high mounting holes of my '71. They are about 4 inches below the coat hooks. Would put an unfavorable angle on the belts.

I must be shorter since I have no leg room problem.

As far as the height of the bar, it hangs a few inches below the B pillar seat belt bolts bolts due to the bracket design. I would think the angleis ok.
