    72 Targa

Hello everyone I need some advice. How is the stainless steel cover removed from the targa bar on my 72 S? Is there a source for dismanteling a targa? Thanks

Besides the obvious sheet metal screws that you'll see once the rubber seal is removed, there are two studs on each side of the targa cover that pass through holes in the fender and are retained by nuts installed from underneath. Jack it up, remove wheels, and under the undercoat and road grit you'll see the two nuts, 8mm wrench size I believe. Chip away all the crud until the nuts are exposed, soak liberally with penetrant, I use a 1/4" drive socket, lonnng extension, and come straight up at them. Try slightly tightening first, then try loosening, go back and forth until they feel like they're coming loose. You DON"T want to break those studs off!

Worked out just fine, stainless is removed and the glass is next.
