    Finding Hotrod Parts

I recently obtained a '71 911T that I plan to build into a hotrod for street and track. Not sure exactly what the concept will be and to a degree it will be dictated by funds and what parts I can find.

I would really love to build a twin plug 2.8 short stroke engine with high butterfly MFI. Sub- 2000lb and 275+ hp are my ultimate goals and I love MFI.

This means I would need a counter-weighted 66mm crank, a 3.0 Carrera or early Turbo engine case (what number is it? I am not real clear on exactly which case I need to search out), and the MFI parts including high butterfly manifolds. I would also probably need a core early SC engine to make up the rest of the basic parts. (any info or suggestions on all this are greatly appreciated)

Does anyone manufacture replica high butterfly injection stacks? I really would prefer to NOT have originals, repro is fine by me.

What other repro hotrod engine stuff is out there?

I have REALLY loved reading hotrod threads here over the past month or so, sure I am missing some from the past. Anyone reading this with a hotrod build thread... gimme the link so I can eat it up!

Yummie. Dang that's expensive stuff. Makes me really wonder about the feasibility of getting some of this stuff made. My old shop teacher in high school was an ace at sand casting goodies....

What case should I be on the lookout for?

Talk to Henry schmidt at supertec. Engines such as you have described seem to be a specialty there. Hell of a nice guy.

There are only 2 ways to make a 2.8 short stroke (66mm crank throw) without aftermarket parts. 1 is to use a 3.0 liter turbo (I think also used on 3.0 RS/RSR) with the early crankshaft. The other is to use an SC case with a 956 crankshaft.

The early Aluminum cases are not reinforced (ribbed) as much as the later ones, which are stronger as a result- just like how the 7R cases are stronger than the early Magnesium cases.
