    Handle of window crank

The round handle of my window crank is broken, so I looked on ebay for a replacement, but all I saw for sale were the entire handles, and not the plastic round piece on its own.
Where do people get these? Are they a VW common part as well? I was hoping it would be a cheap plastic part, and not a $10 piece + $40 shipping deal.

Karl, a brief tour of The Samba reveals that the fow-vay part has concentric circles, like the theater at Epidaurus. The same site offers an abundance of Porsche cranks of various types without the Porsche tax (shhh!)

You guys don't know your own strength.

And the brutal thing is, I just KNOW I have a pair of those handles, they were on '065 (incorrectly) when I acquired her.

The problem is, they sit somewhere among approximately 5,000 parts I have been collecting over the last decade and I could probably produce them around July 4th with the aid of a spelunking helmet.

You can get the knob replacement, although I see they have a special on the entire handle for $19.00. Haven't seen just the knob from anyone else.

A little expensive but hope it helps. I replaced the knob on both of mine as they were about to break, and very happy.

/rant It's not just the black knob. It's how they mount that sucks also. I will bet more than 25% of these carve a circle in the door panel. Given the overall engineering excellence of the car, you wonder why some bits just aren't reliable /rant

The knob is attached via some kind of rivet peened over. I think Perf. Prod. used to sell a replacement knob that I believe was reattached with a screw of some sort. I've always made a habit of not really using just the knob, but rather always use the whole end of the crank arm for just the reasons we're seeing here, it is fragile!
