Fran Hernandez: A Life in Pictures

I never heard of this guy before. He was involved with AutoLite Spark Plugs and Ford Motorsport in the 60's and was involved in nearly every conceivable form of motorsport. He was from Michigan and recently passed away.

Hemmings Blog - Fran Hernandez, A Life in Pictures

His 2 sons have posted 1000 photos from his personal archives, everything from vintage NASCAR to drag racing, GT40's, Bonneville, Indy, etc. Some amazing stuff in here:

Looks like he took home the 'company car' for the night here. Typical middle-class Michigan 60's neighborhood:

Hmmm, that license plate looks familiar

Great post, Curt. I'd have to say, though, I think the "427" plate belongs on the Ford.

Fran Hernandez was a Southern California hot rodder before his Ford company connection.

Neat stuff - thx for the heads up to check out that photo library.

I wish I had known this gentleman , i'm sure he could have answered some questions i've had over the years. I'm a die-hard Ford fan.

I had a couple of those Autolite in-lines , and a PILE of parts for them. Along with the intake & multiple top plates of differant types. One of the unfortunate times I let go of some stuff back in the mid to late 80's.
