VW Style Sliding Ragtop in Early 911

Has anyone ever seen an early VW style sliding ragtop in an early Porsche? I believe Britax still makes them.

I had one in my 56 Vdub in high school and loved it. I imagine someone has done this and I'd like to know how it looks...

So if you've seen it done and have a picture please post it.

I've never seen a 911 with one but I have seen 356's with them. Sorry no pics. I think its kinda cool, but I would have reservations about doing it though.
thats the kind of modification that may come back to haunt you when it comes time to sell the car.

I seem to recall a photo of a prototype from the factory with something similar. Maybe when they were hashing out the Targa concept or something.

The thing is I have had quite a few cars over the years and a number of porsches 911s and a 356 but never the connection like I have with my 71. I frankly can't see myself ever selling this car. Its almost become a part of me.

I love the look/function of these on the Vdubs I bet it would look great on an early 911...

    Sunroof sliders,

I vaguely recall seeing such a ragtop, in illustrations anyway but, unfortunately, have no pics. May I hijack this thread..a little? Here is a quality after-market manual sunroof installed in my '70T. I'm trying, in fact, to find the manufacturer. It probably is close to a one-off installed in the Los Angeles area in the mid-'70s. If you consider the work involved, welding on extra metal, etc, it must have been expensive and only for those who REALLY wanted a sunroof. Manually operated, works like a charm. Any information much appreciated. Thanks!

I've seen one on a 912 and it was nice... Webastos always seemed right on MGB GTs, Mercedes pontons and even XKE coupes.
I seriously considered one for an 1800ES we had once. Here's one on a RHD 911 that was sold in the UK a few months ago:

Ya that looks okay but I don't know... It just doesn't look correct on an 911.
