    72 seats in a later car ? possable

    I have a set of 72 recaro sport seats and am looking at a 76s r-gruppe car to buy this weekend . whats the match like ? anyone done this ?

    i must be asking the wrong question , ok i have been advised that the longitudinal mounts and tunnel mounts are closer together than the pre 74 cars and as such the 72 seats may not fit being wider? so is this an issue or just false info ?

    That info is correct. IIRC, the '73 and earlier cars have rails about 18" apart, the '74 and later are 16" apart.

    That being said, early type seats have been put in the later cars, ibmiked's backdated car comes to mind.

    When you look at most recaro seats, the rails are 16" apart, then to put them in an early car you used a tabbed slider and an adapter that spreads out to the 18" width you need on an early car.

    I bet your solution will be to use a non tabbed slider on the bottom of the seats and go right to the stock mounts in the tub.

    And a bump for someone with more hands on knowledge...
