    Tyres sizes on 7R's

There is a thread in General Info but thought I would ask here also

I have STD guards on a 72 and want to run the widest possible tyre on 7R rims that I can without fouling guard inner lips of bolts on spring plates

What do I need to do re spacers and I prefer not to do longer stud bolts rather but the adaptors if I need to.

What size will fit, with what spacers on the 7R's please

I've used 15mm spacers (wheel adapters) & 215/60 Avon CR6ZZ tyres on 2 of my (lwb) cars with 7R rims in the past.

With no other mods I assume other than the spacer/adaptor

Sorry Clyde, I should have added that I was running larger torsion bars (21/26mm), increased negative camber on the rear (2deg from memory) & rolled fender lips - both cars were lowered too ...

Just remembered I also ran a similar suspension set-up with 15mm spacers & 225/50 tyres on 7R rims on my ex-Kurt Zimmerman RS-engined black '71E Targa

I have run 225/50 with 15mm spacers on a swb. I would have to think they would fit a LWB unless oil cooler lines become a factor.

I have 225/50 on my 70 S, but it requires a lot of neg camber. I have big bars too but it is pretty low. Harvey Weidman supplied the spacers.

Clyde, 225/50s will fit. There are some 225/50s that measure wider up to 1 inch, but I have never found one that I couldn't fit.. I have put on wider 245s but it takes some careful planning ....and race suspension ...and sometimes fender alinging. The 225/50 set up is what we use on street suspension. You may have to rotate the cooler lines or dimple the inner fender behind the lines if there is a problem on the RR. Use 12-15 spacers or 15 Bolt to bolt.
