    Set of 4 7 X 15" Fuchs - New Old Stock

From the dusty far corner of a dealership parts department comes a set of 4 7 X 15" 'flat' Fuchs wheels in original pristine condition. In their original cartons.

Can you tell us the date codes and part number on the wheels?

    Thanks!

These (or a very similar set with the exact same price & story) are listed on PP with a photo of the box showing the part number : 911.361.010.11's , which would be 1974 - later / large hole.

Strangely , in the photos of the wheels themselves , the lips , by contour , look more like the earlier 911.361.020.01's to me. But it could just be the photo.

Yes, I have them listed on PP as well. Have a full day of meetings today, but hope to check date codes and double check number casting on the wheels late today.

Here's the news. Date stamp is not where I expected it. It's possible these were made in 1979, and there was only one run of these in 1979, because the only thing that looks like a date code is the "79" stamping. However, for the edification of the fuchs police, here are "ribs" to decode...

Good buy for whoever bought them. This is a case of the "forging number" not being the part number. The superceeding late thicker forging was 41 while they were finished as a 11. A parts dept order for replacement.

    Question for Harvey please,

Well I learn something else about Fuchs yet again, so can I ask,
    1. Can this happen with 8's? i.e. Can '42' 8's have been ordered post 73 to be finished like '12' or even'02??
    2. Can you confirm the diameter of the centre hole for 'three prong' and 'ring' type centre caps for 7's and 8's please?

    Regards
    Mike

Is 1979 correct for a date code ? I'm don't think so. As 1979 dated 16" fuchs that came on a car as production fitment were still stamped in an earlier location next to the center hole. And the date stamp was the same 3 or 4 digit system (depending on month) as previously.

I do not think a 360.010.41's were being produced in 1979.

And it seems that even when they went to a differant date code stamping system (whenever this was) . It was still stamped near the center hole for awhile.

Here's a sept. 1979 dated 16" stamp , followed by later made 16" with different date coding system stamp (in a differant spot but still near to center hole , not on the backside of a spoke).

Stamp on the later wheel is 5280

peekaboo; 16s were standard in the US but 15s were available as a option and on many anniv cars well into the 80s. I think even until 89. I have a set of 7&8s in the shop that are dated 85. Besides 16 and 15 Fuchs, 15 & 16 phone dials were available.

210bhp: I'll have to check my notes but I can only remember the 41s done in the spoke and outer style (11). BTW not all 11 forging number wheels have the spokes anodized, some have the painted center. Those were ordered as 91 and came without paint. You could also get 11 forging as a polished outer (and anodized) as a optional wheel.
