How much a 2.2 engine and a 901 transmission weight?

    Dear all,
I need to send a 2.2s engine and a 901 transmission from Thailand to be restored in Phoenix. The shipping company asked for the weight of both.
They need it to calculate the cost for sea shipping.
    Any idea?
    Many thanks

hi, engine is about 400lbs, gearbox 80lbs. or in french kilogrammes thats 400/2.2 and 80/2.2.

i made the weight more that actual, pack on wooden pallet. minimum weight could be less, without MFI.

which shop you sending it to?

Just looking at this infomation in the porsche workshop manual last night. From memory it said that a 2.2E engine was 185 kg dry and a gearbox was 50 kg dry.

    HTH.

    Kind Regards

Just checked the manual and the wieghts are the same for T E and S models. The extract from the manual states

Weight of engine, ready to install, without oil.......approx 184 Kg (406 lb)

Weight of transmittion, ready to insatll, with oil......approx 50 Kg (110 lb)
