    Call me confused - steering wheels

    Ok , pulled the momo off the 76s for tac work and unlooming bits , i took my 72 wheel and tried it on the shaft to find a perfect fit (bar a bit close to the dash) i was told pre 74 wheels don't fit later cars ? what am i missing here

    911/912/914 splines - number & overall diameter - are all the same (911's up to '88 from memory).

    What is different between early/late 911's is the depth of the 'hub' area, turnsignal-cancelling ring arrangement (& its relationship to the bottom end of the splines), etc which makes a direct swap diificult/impossible.
