Just curious but is a 100% car a chassis, engine, and transmission matching numbers car with no accident history? Also, why a '71 but not a '70 and a '72 but not a '73?

Yes or slight accident I just really like 71'S or 72'S

other than the orientation of the door locks (verticle vs horizontal) and lock on glove box there really is virtually no difference between 70 and 71 MY but big differences between 70-71MY's and 72MY - should that help you.

I prefer a 1970 911S over a 1971 911S and the only reason is 1970 sounds more even than 1971. Otherwise they are the same car.

Isn't piston oil squirters a pretty major improvement in 71 over 70 engines?

I have always heard the rumour of a factory strike in 1971. They produced fewer 911's that MY.

Can anyone confirm a the strike?

    Porsche 911 Story

Paul Frere says Porsche began galvanizing some underbody sheetmetal for the 1971 911's (and full galvanizing of the body shell in 1976). I know there are plenty of rusty '71+ 911's, but I've always thought you have a slightly better chance fighting the 'tin worm' on a 71+ 911 than older models. Therefore, given the option to buy otherwise identical condition/history/specification '70 or '71 911's, I'd choose the '71.

S's, and all Porsche bodied 911s, were galvanized in 70.

Check the shop manual for chassis numbers.
