Thread: Photos I took at Le Mans 2011 last weekend!

Photos I took at Le Mans 2011 last weekend!

Just returned to Carmel from a 13 day 'Guys Only Car Tour' of England and France. Visited Jaguar, Bentley, Morgan and Aston Martin Work Shop. Also visited a Porsche rally specialist shop of Francis Tuthill. In France, we first visited the Normandy Landing sites, which was the emotional highlight of the trip (the American cemetery & monument brought tears to all of our eyes!). Finally, we spend our last weekend at Le Mans. Photos attached:

    1) Pit Row on Friday afternoon. We could get pretty close to the cars on display at their garages.
    2) Grid of 56 cars at start, just as French Air Force jets finished their fly-by.
    3) Warm Up with Safety Car, led by Pole setter Audi #2, the eventual winner of the race just 24 hours later!
    4) A shot of a few of the Porsche 911 RSR's in the race, including Flying Lizard's orange #80!
    5) Winning Audi #2 gets checkered flag at finish line!

Our group of 25 had seats at the smaller 'Sarthe' grand stand, just before the majestic Grand Stands at Start/Finish line. We also had a JumboTron screen just in front of us so we could watch the action throughout the 8+ mile course. We also had access to the ACO hospitality tent & viewing area near the Dunlop Bridge. In addition, we took a bus to catch the action at Arnage corner and the Mulsanne straight, but we ran out of time quickly since we had to get back to the grandstands for the finishing hours of the race. Overall, an incredible viewing experience that will never be forgotten! Hope all of you can make it to Le Mans at some point in your life. Saludos, Eduardo (now back in Carmel)

That is so freakin cool. Thank you for sharing! I recorded most of it and even had my wife interested in the action. We were pulling for the Lizards naturally...

It's still hard to believe how those prototypes blow by the RSR's like they are tied to a stump.

Looks great, Eduardo! If I might ask, who organized and led this tour? It seems like it was very well-planned and executed. And do include some photos from Tuthills!

Yes, I have just one on the other thread I started with photos from the other places we attended during our trip. But now I will add more. Please go there next.
The tour was organized by Steve Austin. He has been running these kind of tours for years. He is know for the one he does for Goodwood Revival in September and the Monaco Historics in May (every two years). http://www.steveaustinsgreatvacations.com/ z356
