    Parcel shelf cover - help

Hi there. My first post so thanks for allowing me to sign up!

I have been working on my '66 901 for three years now - nut and bolt... you know the kind that takes you to the brink of insanity and back. Anyway I have almost finished. I just need to make some wiring adjustments + install this parcel shelf. I have purchased a new PS cover and note that it has four horizontal slits on the centre seam - where the bar attaches via speed nuts I assume.

Looking at my steel parcel shelf though i note that there are no brackets or signs of any exisitence as such.

Can anyone suggest what would be the best way to overcome this obstacle? Should I fabricate some brackets and weld them to the PS? Any idea why they are missing (I'm assuming the PS is not genuine due to ribbing etc). Does anyone have a close up image of what the brackets look like please so I can make some up? Perhaps even some measurements would be fantastic.

    Thanks to those that respond

Hope helps it's all I could find from my resto album. The trim is held on with chrome plated screws and chrome donut's like hold on door panel's etc. Any hardware store will have same with screw attachment plate's on brackets they are generic plates with screw hole that snap over braket your gonna weld in. If that dosen't make sense holler.

I have no problem with the theory that all men are created equal.
But after that moment you are on your own and nobody owes you a damn thing.

    Thanks

Thanks mark. That's excellent. If your car still has the cover out, could I trouble you for a measurement? Keen to find out how high the barckets are.... Thanks again

I believe Mark's car to be already finished.

What do you need? Measurements and pictures of the brackets?

I can shoot some this weekend, can you hold your MIG welder that long?

If you have the trim piece, shelf lip, you should be able to get mesurements from it. I hard to replace some and used mine for location. If you want them to look original you will need to find donors as they are stamped and def would be a pain to fab.

    deck brkt

    Rolls,
I found this pic for you. It's a little bit closer and shows the position and size fairly well. You may be able to scale it, using the rib spacing of the deck (shown directly adjacent to and behind the bracket), to determine the width of the bracket.......... and your trim piece for the bracket hole height and bracket-to-bracket spacing.
