    Early Recaro Sports seats Question

    So my question is on early Recaro sport seats compatible?

    example: sport seats from a 67 work for a 70 year model.

    Is the base (part of the car) the same 67-73??

    thank you for your help,

    Jb

    As long as you have the correct tilting base* to go with the relevant sport seat then any ('67-'73) Recaro sport seat/base combination will bolt into any 65-'73 911/912.

    * '67/'68 sport seat only works with swb tilting base & '69-'73 sport seat will only work with (much heavier) lwb tilting base.

    There is a lot of information on that subject on this board and over on the Pelican, do a search and you will find.

    This is what I have understood from looking around, but I'm definately no expert so feel free to correct me:

    * The bases are no more part of the car than the seats, they are bolted in. I believe the bolt pattern in the floor is the same in all cars.

    * Without being too detailed, there are basically two groups of seats and bases: Those that came in SWB cars and those that came in LWB cars. Seat and base should match.

    * Main differences are:
    - SWB seats have the slider actuator in the seat itself. LWB seats have no such actuator, it is part of the LWB base.
    - SWB is mounted floor-base-sliders-seat. LWB is mounted floor-sliders-base-seat.

    This is just a crude division, if you want to be correct with respect to the right year seat and base for a specific year of car then it gets trickier. Variations exist such as no headrest on 67 seats but provisions on 68 seats, tilt locker or not, double clicker bases in 73 vs single clicker 69-72, etc., etc. That's a real jungle but if you want to get into it there's a lot of knowledge on the board.
