Thread: A 911 trailer hitch?

    A 911 trailer hitch?

I own a 1975 911S that I use for autocross, and track days. The events I attend are generally 50-100 miles from my house, and I drive my 911 to these events. At my last event, I saw a couple guys in Miatas, that drove their cars to the event as well, but they towed small utility trailers behind their cars. The trailers had their track tires, jack, etc.. on the trailer.

I've been considering doing the same thing, but I'm struggling with how to mount a hitch to my 911. I still have the metal (aluminum I think) rear bumper, so I'm assuming a ball-hitch could mount right to it, but I haven't seen a simple bolt-on hitch like that. The toungue weight, and overall weight, of the trailer would be minimal, so I don't think I need a complicated set up.
Anyone know of a bolt-on ball hitch? I guess I could go to a shop and have one fabricated if need be... thoughts?
    thanks

Thanks for the reply...but that seems a bit excessive for what I'm pulling. Can't I bolt something straight to the existing metal bumper?

If you are putting it on your 75 the impact bumpers are held on with a collapsible shock type arrangment that is made for collapsing, not extending. You need to attach the hitch to the tub, not the bumper. Simplest is to go with the ones that Raj's recommened..
