    Driving without any instruments

I am going to send my instruments to be overhauled. Has anybody driven their car without instruments. My thoughts lean towards getting a temporary oil temp and pressure gauge, the other gauges I can live without for 3 or 4 weeks.

    Any thoughts?

Later gauges fit in the holes just fine, a wrap of electrical tape will snug them up....as long as the senders are calibrated to your temporary gauges, you'll be all set

Let me know if you need to borrow some gauges, I think I've got most of what you need, speedo, oil level/ fuel....

I wondered if anybody would come up with that. I've had some defroster malfunctions in other cars that made me wish for some IFR instruments. But I think I'll do OK with just temp and pressure.

In my 67 if the alternator bulb is bad, it won't charge....leaving that wire hanging may present a problem...?

The alternator light wire gets connected to a +12V terminal. You need it to excite the alternator field circuit and charge properly.

I've driven a bunch of cars (for a few laps around the block) without gauges. It's like driving a wind tunnel.

I might as well remove the windshield while I'm at it too

Why not! The cap and goggles would be a perfect compliment.
