    GOT a SPORTOMATIC ?

It seems all of a sudden I am seeing more people that post on this board own Sporto's. Any Idea whats going on or is it just me? Maybe its because I just bought one,but will probably end up converting to 5 speed And there are Two soft window targas for sale right now that are Sporto's.

Why would you want to convert?

There have been several for sale (or sold) lately, which is unusual... maybe some dig them more than they did 30 years ago.
It's not a bad thing. I agree with Ed... did you buy the Sporto with the intention of converting it? There are plenty of manual-box
cars available. But just in case you do swap for a 5-speed, keep me in mind for the tranny and all the parts. I'd be happy to store them.

    I loved my sporto.

The issue is the replacement parts, or lack of; particularly the rubber diaphragm for the vacuum slave. It's this frustration that seems to lead to the manual conversion.

Its not fun to be frustrated with hard to find parts but also I do not want to have a Sportomatic break down in some remote area looking for Sporto parts. My approach will be-- see if the Sporto works if so , fine I'll drive it awhile. I want a Hot Rod 911 and this 68 911L will get a big engine and I will put the original engine and tranny on a shelf for now and keep all the Sporto stuff. Thanks Chris

I just bought my second one. Once the projects are finished I'll let you know how I like them.
