E Bay experts search help needed

Why when I type in the search bar of E Bay motors "1972 Porsche 911" do I get a ream of ads for turbo chargers, lights and other crap which have nothing to do with early Porsche.

Should I be typing in something else??

on the left hand side of the screen will be a choice for 'categories'. Choose "Cars". This also appears in a second box of the search line, 'Cars' or 'Parts'.

If you select 'auctions only' it will filter out a lot of the new parts.

However, by specifying '1972' in your search you are excluding a whole host of parts that could be of interest.

click on the used section and choose Porsche and 911
on the next screen you should see a menu on the left side that will allow specific years to be chosen.
This should lead specifically to what you want.

There are a couple problems with eBay Motors that they are aware of. One, of course is 'keyword stuffing' which makes products show up in searches without regard to whether the product fits. Another is that there is -- as of yet -- no widely accepted categorization protocols for aftermarket fitment and application. A structure has been adopted and promoted by SEMA to include applications (ACES) and product (PIES). Only about 2% of aftermarket marketers are using these, but that 2% represents some of the "big guys." As adoption grows, eBay is also providing an "interpreter" to people listing products. If people listing stuff for sale take the time, the application information gets better. Of course, it still hinges on the seller's knowledge, which is the weak link in the chain.

Right now, It's generally best to search with exclusions. My standard search is [Porsche -license -356 -924 -928 -microfiche -poster -shirt -jacket -trim] I can then further narrow down the results by using the left column filter.
