    Bought a Ebay 70 911E for $3k....uh...well...not!

Won this bid last night, what a deal!

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...8319&viewitem=

Imagine my delight! Then called the guy to tell him I would pick it up in the AM.......dead silence!

I knew it was to good to be true, but was fun to bid the thing (I have the exact same car in Albert blue, so I know what its worth)

Turns out the guy had trouble listing it, and did'nt know the listing actually took, then re listed it here

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

So, no ill will to anyone, just a reminder that thing are'nt always what they seem.
The guy was very apologetic and actually is sending me a gift for not being a pain in the balls about the whole thing.

I'll just wish the guy good luck with the sale, and hope it goes to a good home.

I'm sure he had quite the "moment" .

I once bid $40,000 on a set of shop 911 manuals, seconds before the end of a eBay auction. I meant to bid $400.00 but missed the "period", I was sweating bullets, hoping someone was not going to snipe me with some crazy high bid.

    Your a good sport Bud.

Ya I've made a few purchase and selling errors on eBay over the years and I've found most people to be very accomidatiing to mistakes.

If you have a valid reason you can just retract the bid.

What is the down side of the Karmaan coupe for us uninformed Harry?

I have the same question, Harry. I don't know of ANY downside
and have actually heard that the Karmann built bodies equalled
or exceeded the Porsche/Reutter built ones in quality.

Those in the business of structural repairs in the 356 world generally agree that the Karmann built bodies were better in that they had more drain and vent holes in the closing panels and pan.....drainage.

Last spring Jim Braezeale and I went around to all the 900 bodies in his place. Indeed the Karmann bodies have drain holes with rubber plugs on the tunnel floor running the length of the car. Reuters do not. Some think the craftmanship and fit was better on the Karmanns, but this is not a universal opinion. The drainage holes in 356s and 900s is the main difference and considered "better" by some.
