Events on and around Rennsport 4

    All,

A fairly large contingent of enthusiasts from Australia is coming over.. mainly Sydney.

Is there anything on (Early S, R Gruppe etc) in the lead up or afterwards?

I thoroughly enjoyed the winery dinner when I was over for the historics in 2009, and am really hoping something similar will be on the menu during RR4.

There'll be enough of us in Monterey I'd imagine?

And if any of you ever find yourselves in Sydney Australia, there will be a dedicated, and enthusiastic bunch to show you around, I promise.

Are there any events, or catch ups planned... or will Rennsport itself be enough?

If I am correct is there a Porsche event on Monday the 16th as well organized by Steve Heinrich's. You might find information over on the 356 registry.

The Porsche Race Car Classic will be held on the grounds of The Quail Lodge on SUNDAY, Oct 16th. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime gathering of special Porsche race cars which will not be repeated. It has been in the planning for nearly four years. It's the reason that Rennsport IV was 'assigned' this year to Laguna Seca (first time ever in the West Coast!) by Porsche AG and PCNA! It's a not-to-be-missed event for all Porsche enthusiasts. It is an expensive ticket @ $400 but $350 of it is tax deductible since it's a registered charity event. Most of the Porsches on display will NOT be at Rennsport, so this will be the only opportunity to see them! There will be special corral parking for both Early 911S Registry and R Gruppe members.

    SUNDAY October 16, 2011
From Le Mans to Sebring to Riverside, the cars that made Porsche the most revered name in racing are coming to Quail. Purpose-built race cars and production cars with significant race histories from Porsche’s break-out era are coming together for a day of appreciation and celebration. Gmünds, Glöcklers, 550s, 550As, 718s, 718/2s, 804s, 904s, 356 Coupes, Speedsters, Convertible Ds, Elva Porsches, Dolphins, Poopers and Dreikantschabers. You name it. If it raced between 1950 and 1965 it’ll be here.

While honoring Porsche’s on-track victories you will also be helping to fight lung cancer. Lung cancer kills more people each year than the other major cancers combined and yet it’s the least funded. We aim to change that. All net proceeds from ticket sales as well as sponsor contributions will go directly to two world-class organizations, the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and the UCSF Thoracic Oncology Program, to aid in their fight to drive lung cancer off the planet. We couldn’t do all of this without the generous support of Porsche Cars North America and Porsche AG, and more than 3,500 attendees are expected - including special guests and celebrities. Join us in celebrating Porsche’s glorious racing history while feasting on local gourmet specialties and sipping heavenly wines from thirty leading wineries. Your all-inclusive ticket also entitles you to commemorative gifts.
