I had the great pleasure to speak to his wife, Ursula, the year the Baron passed. She was attending the Porsche Model club event in Stuttgart - what a wonderful person.

Still looking for 1st Edition Carrera RS book #358.
Life is way too short to drive boring cars.
Came across a snippet from 1973 relating to this old thread
Sounds like Eoin Young onetime colleague and housemate in a London suberban semi-detached house on Grayham Road, New Malden of fellow Kiwi Bruce McLaren (Young was director of McLaren Racing in earliest days) wasn’t a member of the Baron’s fan club. Nor does he seem impressed by the approach to the record breaking achievements in 1973; or the manner of his MM win during WW2.
When it resumed in April 1940 shortly before Italy entered World War II, it was dubbed the Grand Prix of Brescia, and held on a 100 km (62 mi) short course in the plains of northern Italy that was lapped nine times.

BTW, it was VIN 0119 taking the records.

Interesting it was an early first series car #119 built in 1972 but iir record wasn’t set autumn of 1973. Curious what is the source of 119 being the car as earlier posts from some knowledgable folks did not to know the vin.

That was a while back Steve we did not know. On of the auction houses in Germany sold this year many RS pictures and there it was mentioned to be car 0119. Would not be surprised if the info came from Porsche.

and 0119 was a Presse/ sales department car used both for loaning for test drives as well as for some testing. By that time it would have been ready to be pensioned off from the Presse fleet so not a big jump to stick a 3 litre RSR engine into it and have a go at a records or two. here it is a bit earlier
