    Center lock help

I need to bow before the hive mind again...

Problem: Purchased a 'grab bag' of centerlock hubs. Unfortunally the two fronts are both right hand pitch. I've been told that running a right pitch on the left side is really stupid.

Problem: These things tend to come in pairs since they are left/right deals (even if they are new repos). So finding an odd left may take awhile.

Id like to actully use the darn things... So these are the possibliltes I've thought of... if anyone has more to add, I'd love to hear it.

Solution 1: On the 'wrong side' drill and tap for a small cap screw, say 10-32, into the wheel center so that when the centerlock nut is fully torqued, the cap screw head is just tangent. Volia, anti-rotation. Saw this at the air and space smithsonian on an early propeller.

Solution 2: Weld up the Ti threads and have recut in the correct handed pitch.

Solution 3: Find the correct hub.

    Solution 4: ???

    Thanks in advance,

Call Kevin Jeannette and ask him if he wants to trade.

    center lock

I have one rear, left hand thread. Do not know if it a factory, or repro. May be interested in trades, or buying more to make a set>

Sent an email to Gunnar. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

    Mike:
Thats funny as the rear I got was a left also. Perhaps the cars crashed more on the right side :-)?

If you come across two left fronts, we can swap one.

    Raj:
Not yet. Problem is, you just got my old fronts :-). There are nice repops, I just hate purchasing something that is temporary when I have the factory stuff. Especially when you have to buy a whole kit of four for one (most will only sell in pairs).

    Hive mind:
Taking the mechanical lock a bit further... Perhaps a 1/4" plate cut to match the nut with 5 ears that extend over the drive pins. There are already small holes in the BBS E57 centers over the dive pin holes that would need to be enlarged to 1/8". Then, drill and tap each drive pin. That would put the small #10-32 anti rotation bolt into something hard and not the softer mag of the wheel center. The plate would be easy on the baby CNC at work. This would only 'deface' the wheel hub slightly and the drive pins are readily available for reasonable $. Thus the hard to find stuff would be left alone.
