Wanted: Engine Deck Luggage Rack 911/912

Clutching at straws I know but was wondering if anyone had a Classic looking engine deck luggage rack for a 911/912 for sale, or can point me in the right direction for sourcing one.

Classic carriers are currently out of stock.

    Thanks in advance

    Rosh,
There was a thread on this some time ago which you might like to search. I recall the conclusion was that Classic Carrrier were the only source of a lid rack with a period look to it.
From a practical viewpoint, they reduce your rearward visibility and further penalise the front/rear weight distribution. But from an aesthetic viewpoint, they look very cool. If you REALLY intend to use a rack - look for an Amco roof rack (was in the dealer option catalog back in the day), lighter and nicer IMHO than the factory optioned rack. I have one & it's very functional. (and COOL!) Good luck with your search.

Not to mention disruption to the vital air flow into the engine grille?

It would be interesting to compare engine temps with the wheel and rack on and off. I am guessing with a stock 2.0-2.4 911T motor running at under 4500 revs it wouldn't make much of a dfference. But how about above 5k on an early S or S spec motor not running an external oil cooler?

    Thanks all for the advice.

911 Kiwi - I've got a Targa so not sure the roof rack would work. I've seen some Targa roof racks that fit, but they just don't look quite right. If I had a coupe I'd definitely go for the option you have. With a Targa, I have my heart set on the engine lid rack.

Raj, you said that they are also made in the Netherlands. You don't happen to have contact details do you?

I've been trying Classic Carriers, both in Germany, and the US ,on and off, for over a year now and they have been waiting for a re-supply. They're estimating to have a new stock in at the end of August..... but they said that last year too!
