    Charleston S.C. Run

Heres a few pics from a drive from Louisville to Charleston this weekend.
Sorry, not much of a travel log, was a little pressed for time.
1500 miles round trip, 9 hours each way. A little on the warm side with no AC, but with windows open and MFI hummin'....way cool!
Great run through the Smokey/Appalachian Mountains.
I think I heard the the old car ask "Is this the Vaterland?"...runnin' son of gun it IS!

Check out the arm rest I fashioned out of some 2" foam and left over German vinyl from the interior re-do. My old body needs some propping up in places from time to time
and this thing did the trick. I know, I know, its not for the purist, but I bet the old guys understand, and, its not as bad as a cup holder eh?

    See ya at P2O!

Round trip?! I'd have thought one-way to get a jump on the Parade crowd in Savannah!

Nice shots, especially with the Yorktown at Patriots Point.

Most of my family lives along the SC coast. When I was growing up in the late 60s-early 70s Charleston was a POE for Porsche. I can remember riding across the Cooper River bridges and looking down at the candy-colored longhoods being offloaded. At the time it helped me get over the heebie-jeebies going over those bridges, but I think it also made some kind of lasting impression that ultimately led me to get one of my own.

I'm not going to Parade this year but I'd love to drive my car down there one of these days. I think I might want to install a fender-mounted oil cooler before I do. How were your temps on the trip?

Long story Reza, I'll have to share it in Reading if I don't see you before then.

    Hey Ed,
Temps ran between 180 and a tick or so over 210 when 90mph+ up some passes. I was concerned that I may need an oil cooler, but I think I'm ok.
As you know, the heat wave produced temps of up to 100+ with indexes of 115. Way hot down in your hometown. Nice city by the way, Had a very nice dinner at "High Cotton", enjoyed some seafood at the "Fleet Landing" .
Stopped at the Confederate Museum run by the nice ladies of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Picked up some grass baskets at Market Hall and stayed at the Mills House on Meeting St. I'd love to go back some time, and enjoy the southern charm, maybe when its a little cooler, less crowded. (American Idol was in town for tryouts, whole city was booked solid)

Reza, thanks for the compliment, my Albert Blue has plenty of that patina from the bugs and rock chips, and the new windshield has started its own nod to the miles.
    You going to the Parade?
It's still on my calender, hav'nt ruled out a return visit to the south. Maybe a stop at the Tail of the Dragon. I was very close to it , but pressed for time.
