Thread: Anyone need a complete running 1965 911 motor with Solex's?

  1. #1

FS Complete running 1965 911 motor & tranny, rolling fiberglass engine stand

I just purchased a dune buggy with a complete 1965 drivetrain.

Motor that has the original Solex's, all fuel lines, twin mechanical pumps, carb linkage, center oil cams/covers, etc. Buggy has correct oil tank also. Only thing missing is the air cleaner system.

Motor rebuilt 2 owners ago. Motor supposedly had around 500 miles when I got it. I've put around 100 on it so far. Should have 2-3K miles at most. When shop removed valve covers from cam towers it looked brand new inside with no build up or deposits.

Just had local shop rebuild all 6 carbs, install new electric fuel pump at tank, and new filter, adjust valves, replace 1 rocker that had come loose, and replace some aftermarket oil lines held on with hose clamps with factory originals to cure some oil leaks.

Buggy runs like a top now with absolutely no leaks. This thing is crazy fast.

Buggy has matching 65 901 tranny, rear disk brakes and Nadella driveshafts. The rest is VW or aftermarket.

60 VW pan, VW Type 3 disk brake front end, real mag wheels-4 lug front, 5 lug rear.

If anyone out there that needs a complete 1965 drivetrain this might be perfect for you.

If you want a 911 powered dune buggy please note that it needs new tires all around, VW Shifter needs some adjustment to work better with Porsche 5 speed, entire body gel coat is crazed but otherwise in good shape and shiny with a few scratches here and there, windshield frame, roll bar, and tail lights need re-chroming.

I will not part buggy out. If you want the motor/drivetrain outright, buy the buggy complete and do what you want with the rest.

    Engine #901667

    Transmission #101588

Estimated car this engine and tranny is from has a VIN 301595 - 301605

I cannot afford to redo this buggy like I wanted with a new Meyers Manx Kick Out SS body and replica Fuch's wheels. I'd like drivetrain to go to a restorer or buggy to go to an enthusiast who can do it up right.

8k or best offer. Buggy is in Atlanta Georgia.

Interested in your rolling fiberglass engine stand. What's the asking price?
Does a Shriner's fez come with it?

    Thanks.

Is that a real Manx? Those can be worth $ too.

Someone spent some time and put some engineering into that project! I bet it moves fairly well!

Post up the engine numbers and I'm sure many people will want that motor.

Unfortunately not a Meyers Manx. Dune buggy is an Allison Daytona manufactured in Florida. Will post numbers with photos tomorrow.

Meyers Manx is making a new street body that would be perfect for this chassis! Imagine this with Fuch's wheels, wide rears and skinny fronts!!!

    Scotty ,

Those are real Halibrand large window magnesium wheels in the back. I cannot see the front well enough to ID for certain. But their probably Halibrands also. And from looking at a Dune buggy website of some Allisons. That seems to be original gelcoat & striping.

    Quite a neat buggy.
