    915 trans stuck

I have a 73 with a the original 915 trans with 78,000 miles. Usually I am careful when going from/to reverse. Today I wasn't and the trans locked between reverse and a forward gear. Careful rocking/jiggling etc. and it was fine again and the car is home. I mean to say it performed fine, I am asking the experts is it not fine? I have a change to Swepco on the to do list. Thanks in advance!

Check the fixed shift fork that is mounted on the inspection cover at the bottom of the tranny. Sometimes these 10mm nuts come loose that mount this fork. Very simple fix.

Pretty common to see the "lock out pill" in the wrong spot. If the trans was apart at some point and the mid-case flipped, the pill moves up into the wrong spot....then you can get 2 gears at once.

Dito on flat six. Interlock detent pin in intermediate case that locks out 3-4 from 5-R can end up on the upper side of the shift rail and two gear selection is made possible. If you can get the plug out of the intermediate case on top, you can see the offending detent that shouldn't be there. Gled
