    Restoring interior of a 1967 911s...have a question...

    Work is being done by Tony.

    He told me to find a 'knee dash trim with alum' piece. Our car was missing this part. I know this is a unique trim piece to the 67 911s.

    So, found the part from a fellow board member..(thanks Paul)..and will have it shipped to Tony.

    Weird part, I have no idea where this dash piece goes. I have been looking at dash images online and still have no clue.

    Can anyone post an image where this part goes?

    Here ya go..

    On the 67, the alum trim below the dash basketweave is actually on the one piece knee pad. Later, they used a full one piece alum extrusion that attached to the dash and the basketweave was glued to the inside channel.

    OK, I think I may understand what Tony is telling me....maybe he is suggesting that the trim on the dash is for a newer car where the aluminum bits were attached differently.

    OK...hold on...I think I grew a brain cell or 2.

    Looking at both sets of images...the dash image from 70SatMan show the ash try w/o the aluminum strip. In other words, the lower dash pad has the aluminum strip attached. VS the dash image of my car the ash tray has the aluminum trim attached. Conclusion, the center dash and lower dash in our car are not for a 67S

    How did I do?

    Good. Also if you'll notice your glove box door is incorrect also. Your car has a later glove box. The 67S glove box has basket weave wrapped around the bottom edge. Again the trim on the dash provides the break. Your box door has the later alum trim on it.

    Oh....Your car looks extremely familiar...I recognize the seat centers.

    Does anyone have the contact information for the person that was making the 67 S anodized trim channel for the knee pad and door tops. all help would be greatly appreciated

    Correct; As it was on later cars too. Aluminum has an upper and lower channel (lip) running the length of the piece. The material has to fit in and under the lips. Width is critical otherwise you'll end up with high spots in the face of the basketweave or raised areas where it goes under the lip. Easy job.
