Hello I have a set that came off 9 & 11 X 15. Inside storage all there life. Made in 2003 but still good to run on the street.

    4 tires from 9&11X15 rims 225 50 15 285 40 15
    all made 2003 400.00 + shipping from Lincoln,Ca

I have a pair of DP Motorsport 9x15's that would work on the back of RS. They were made using 7's and adding the 2" to the inside giving approximately 7" of backspacing. I had TB15's 270 mounted on them and tried to put them on the front of my '75 Carrera RS look. Didn't work because the tire is too tall. They do look like 7's from the front.
The 23/62's w/10.6 cross section should fit with some neg camber. I ran 9x17's w/275 Hoosier R6's (10.8 section width) on our '73 targa track car with factory RS fenders.

In reading this thread I understand that several guys are opting for 15" 7j front and 8j rears to run the 18/60-15 Michelin TB15's on 1970's 911's, but I'm a bit confused. If you go to the Longstone Tyres site, they list the max rim size as "7.5 inches" for that tire. So wouldn't the use of an 8" rim be unsafe?

My thought would be to run the following set-up on my stock 1979 911SC:
    front: 15" 6j with the 15/60-15 Michelin TB15's (alt sizing 170/65VR15) max rim size range: 5 - 6"
    rear: 15" 7j with the 18/60-15 Michelin TB15's (alt sizing 215/55VR15) max rim size range: 6 - 7.5" max

So my question is, has anyone run this set-up on a stock 911SC or Carrera 3.0 of their own? If so, how did it work out and could you kindly upload some photos of the tire-to-rim profiles?

    Thank you!
    Joseph

You really want to run a $2000 set of tires when you have some options still for normal 6-8" tires? If you are doing 6/7, the Avon cr6zz seem great. 185/70 and 215/60, original sizes for an RS.

I have a set of 9x15" and 11x15" Jongbleod Racing wheels that would be perfect for the above 225x50x15 and
285x40x15 tires. They look to be straight and true with no curb rash. $1600 OBO. Best way to contact me is by email at kwiky59gt@yahoo.com Located in Santa Rosa, CA

Yes I do want to run the TB's regardless of price. I like the way they look and perform. Avon's are too tall...

I run the 215's on 8 x 15 fronts on my turbo, and 9 x 15 fronts on my '75 Carrera (turbo body). The 270's wouldn't look right (to me) on 8's, at least 9's or 10's. I also have a second set of tires for the winter. The TB's don't do well in the rain.

The 26/61 will also work but the tire buldge is different than the 23/62. I also recommend Longstone Tyres (UK). Their door to door price (yes, including shipping) is less than others and they frequently have them in stock first. (Also 15/60 & 18/60 on 8s & 9s.) My least favorite is 23/62 & 26/61 on 9 & 11s, but they are still way better than anything elso. IMHO

so for 9 and 11 it is the 18/60 and 23/62. This would be the same tire size for the 8 and 9 correct? (i recently bought both sets of these wheels that were both finished by Harvey!)

I agree. The 18/60 and 23/62 look period thanks to the sidewall height and bulge.
I fear that bumping up to the wider rear 26/61 would lose the period side wall look due it being a lower profile.

For "street" tires, I just installed the following from Lucas Tire.
    225/50VR15 on 15x9 Fuchs and 285/40VR15 on 15x11 Fuchs.
The tires fit the wheels very nicely and also fit well into the turbo/RSR fender flares.
Much more of a steetable compound compared with the Michelin TB5/15 tires IMHO.
