Thread: Latest on tires for RSR?

  1. #11
The 23/62 (270's) is a taller tire, approx 24 5/8" on a 9" rim compared to the 26/61 (295's) on 11's and and the 29/61 (335's) on 13"s which are approx. 23 3/4". The 215's still have the nice old school bulge on the 8's, it might look like a flat side on the 9's. Here is a shot of the 215 on an 8. Here is a link to the TB15 specs. http://www.gbsalpine.com/english/col.../michelin.html

I have tried all of the sizes on 9&11s. The best looking combo that I have found is the 18/60 on the 9s and the 23/62 on the 11s. The 26/61 will also work but the tire buldge is different than the 23/62. I also recommend Longstone Tyres (UK). Their door to door price (yes, including shipping) is less than others and they frequently have them in stock first. (Also 15/60 & 18/60 on 8s & 9s.) My least favorite is 23/62 & 26/61 on 9 & 11s, but they are still way better than anything elso. IMHO

    TB5s

Harvey - I'm glad I ended up with your suggested combo for the TB5s on 9s and 11s for my "RSR". I love the look and performance. As far as all the comments about TB5s collecting up and launching everything they roll over...well I guess you can attest to that after following me through the twisties during the Targa CA. If I've never said it before, apologies for the broken headlight.

    Dear Sir,
Thank you for your e mail,
You are correct in going 23/62x15 and 26/61x15 unfortunately the 23/62x15 are out of stock, however news you may not have heard is that Michelin have now turned the TB15 into a fully wet tyre due to the FIA demanding a wet tyre so for normal highway use or even extended track use the TB5F and TB5R are the answer i can offer you the 23/62x15 TB5F @ £319.00 and the 26/61x15 TB5R @ £321.00 shipping would be £40.00.
    Let me know your thoughts
Wow!!! look what showed up today. Talk about fast service, I got these today. Three days from England, I was expecting to wait for weeks.

So did you get the 23/62F and 26/61R combo or go for the 18/60F and 23/62R? Tb15, looks like? Can't wait to see them on your car

I went with the 23/62F and 26/61R, I did not realize 18/60F and 23/62R was a option, untill after I orderd them. I'll post some pics when I get them mounted.

Given the real life expertise here - what would you guys recommend for a '73 with RS flares and 7/8x15? Would 15/60F on the 7' and 18/60R on 8' work well?

Many thanks for your thoughts on this.

    Cheers,
    Christian

The recomended rim width for the 15/60-15 (170/65VR15) is 5-6 inches, but I think it would work. For the rear the 18/60 should be fine.
