I am trying to maintain a period correct look, its bad enough that I'm forced into 16s, I'm not trying to pimp my ride w/ 17s

just messing with you your right there are a ton more sizes available, its just that the car looks so good with the 15s.

I understand about the "pimped look", not a fan of the 17's, but at least they have the Fuchs centers. I run the 17's in the winter because the Michelins are pretty lousy in the rain. I ran 8x16 944 fuchs w/225's on the front and 9x16's w/245's on the rear of our '73 targa w/RS fenders. I figure they would look pretty small under your fenders.

Just an up date on tires. Looks like Longstonetire in the U.K. is carrying the Pirelli 225/50/15 to go with the 345/35/15. Tirerack only shows the 345/35/15.

or better yet 8 and 8 with spacers with tires that can handle some rain. Any thoughts??
Well.... you could buy my 8&9x15 Fuchs with 205/55 and 225/50 Toyo T1R tires! I've also got a spare new pair of 225/50's that could go with them.

These also would work with Toyo R888's in 225 and 235 sizes and BFGoodrich g-Force Sport in 205/225 sizes. Of course these would also work on 7&8x15 Fuchs with rear spacers.

Semi-seriousness aside - when I'm not running 15's I go with the pimpin' 17" sizes. I think you'll find most street 16" tires will be limited to 225 width.

    Good luck!

A lot of sources list the 15/60-15 but up till now no one in the US or EU has it in stock with the exception of Coker, where these originate from 2004 obviously. I had a long chat with Guenter Schlag on this special size and he mentioned that this size will be discontinued due to FIA homologation issues with the overall diameter of the 15/60-15 being effectively below 600mm which is to small. He is one of the major resellers for the TB5/15 in the EU (sold around 2500 sets of these in 2011 alone...) and might know what he is talking about.

It seems that I have to try it with 18/60-15 on a 7" Fuchs in front and with 23/62-15 on a 9" Fuchs in the back on my RS-flared car. Does anybody here ever used this combo on an RS- or SC-flared car?

The 9x15 offset doesn't work very well under a rear RS flare with anything larger than a 225 size tire. A Yoko AO48 has a 9.3" cross section width in this size (I ran these on 9x15s for years). I'm thinking a 23/62-15 with a 10.6" cross section will be too wide back there.

Thanks Randy. Guenter mentioned two RS he knows of running 23/62-15 on a 8" Fuchs at the rear so I will probably have to try myself whether these on a 9" will fit.

This doesn't help with your question about the clearance on 9s but I did notice that this RS at Le Mans Classic last year was running 18 and 23 TB15s on 7s and 8s. Seemed to do quite well on them as well.

Yes, 8x15 Fuchs are a different animal. Their offset is much more friendly for RS flares. As it should be, since that's what the factory used. 9x15s do work well with 23TBs.. on STs.

Has anyone tried the Goodyear "billboards" on RSR sized rims? Yes, they ain't DOT, a bit large, but they are a lot cheaper than the Avons and TBs and 9/32" tread depth is pretty chunky. Reported +8k milage.
