FS: AL Control Arms (Fits Early Sway Bar Mounts)

AL control arms recently purchased for my '73 but have elected to go in a different direction. Arms will fit early sway bar mounts. These arms are in very good condition but need bushings, bearings, etc. for rebuild. I am asking $250 + shipping. Price is OBO. Please PM me here or email at popowitz@hotmail.com.

    Thanks.

    Dave,
Are these a direct replacement with no modifications necessary to a 73? Somewhere there is a thread explaining the variables but I can't put my finger on it now (Old age?).... :-(
    I am interested if so.
    Thanks

    Hi Mark,

My understanding is that these bolt right on. However, the '74 got the larger bearing hence a slightly wider handbrake assembly and the bearing is deeper so the shaft on the hub is cut about 5mm deeper. Stub axles are longer as well. These AL arms were offered between 74-76 and so the additional parts would need to be from the same period. The '73 equipment will not work.

I have one person in front of you waiting for shipping costs. If you are interested please PM me and I will contact you if the other buyer falls through.

    Thanks for your interest.

For the record, I was able to install my '70 handbrake hardware on arms just like the ones listed here without difficulty. I used the drive flanges that came with the aluminum arms, new bearings made for aluminum arms, and new hard brake lines. Everything else was a direct swap, if memory serves.

The spring plate hardware is slightly different ... i.e. bolts (longer), washers (thicker), camber adjuster (bigger), toe adjuster (the same for steel or aluminum arms), schnorr washers (the same for both).

The handbrake shoes, springs, spreaders, pins, retaining hardware and adjusters are all the same, as are the bearing retaining plates and cables. The cable guide tubes for the arms are different.

    Marco-

You are, of course, correct. Those items I had forgotten about.
