For the 1973 model year, Porsche introduced the ultimate evolution of the early 911, the Carrera RS. The RS was fitted with a 210 bhp 2.7L engine, wider rear wheels were tucked under flared fenders. Stiffer suspension, bigger brakes and a ducktail spoiler were the major changes from the already potent 911S. Porsche only planned to build 500 units of this homologation special, but demand was high and by the time they discontinued the model, 1,580 units had been built.

We are offering car number 9113600901, which was completed during March 1973 and assembled with engine number 6630887 and transmission number 7830872. It was painted 6262 Light Yellow and fitted with options “409” Sport Seats, “220” Limited Slip and configured with “M472” Touring package. It was delivered new to Germany and sold to the outright winner of the most unfortunate name contest, Mr. Adolf Hiller. The original German "Fahrzeugbrief" title is still with the car and documents all European owners from Mr. Hiller until the car was sold in 1980 to a USAF Doctor who was stationed in Germany. Shortly after his purchase, the doctor imported the car to his home state of Florida. Import papers and EPA/DOT releases are included in the extensive history file along with correspondences from all subsequent owners to present. The chain of ownership is fully documented and there are no gaps in time.

The most recent owner, a doctor in Modesto, CA, purchased the car in 2003. During his ownership, he had the car regularly serviced and mechanically restored by noted Porsche specialist, Jerry Woods Enterprises. All-in, more than $50,000 were spent on rebuilds of the engine, gearbox, suspension and brakes between 2005 and 2009. The receipts are on hand and will be included in the sale. Since the mechanical rebuild, the RS has been driven about 10,000 kms.

The body is in excellent condition with no signs of any notable damage or rust. The floors and fabled battery boxes are in excellent condition. The Grand Prix white paint is older and shows some signs of age, but is very presentable. The “Touring” interior was just recently redone and is very correct including the impossible to find dash pad with rectangular speaker grill. The sports seats are in excellent condition as are the door panels, pockets, carpets and rear seats. The engine, which is beautifully detailed, sorted, serviced and dyno tuned wears the correct number, but the present owner who is an authority on this model, believes it was restamped at some point. The transmission number is correct and appears to be a period, factory stamping. This is an opportunity to purchase solid and straight RS with unbelievable documentation back to new that is ready for spirited road or track use . . .

Unfortunate that multiple restamps are involved. I wonder what the two chassis stamps (in the trunk next to the gas tank and on the aluminum plate)?

Russo Steele lists the sale as $286K, which must now include the buyer's premium. Pretty strong price for a color change Touring (converted to M471) with a restamped case.
