Finishing up the dash of my '66 and have a few questions, mostly radio related.

Finally got the ashtray bracket and put the ashtray in, polished the chrome bezel for the lighter and got that installed. A few questions for the experts:

    1) I have a Blaupunkt Frankfurt USA model from '66. Wilfred Wilkes Sr. worked on it and restored it to functioning status. Two questions:

    a) How should the power supply in the back be oriented? This is the second, smaller box that is mounted to the back. Does anyone have a photo of the underside of their dash looks with an original Frankfurt installed? This would be a big help.

    b) What cover plate would have been used in 1965 or 1966 for a Frankfurt? The silver ones? The ones that are sort of parallelograms? I need to source a faceplate and want one that is original.

    2) Can someone confirm for me, just to assure me that I am not crazy, that the order of the dash switches is, from left to right: FOG HAZARD WEBASTO. I am 99.9% certain this is correct but I honestly cannot remember.

    3) What kind of REAR license plate bracket would have been original for '66? The H type or the straight type?

I will get some photos up soon (Richard I know you want to see more!)

This was one of the things I wanted to know as well. Because a friend of mine had a webasto heater, it came with the car, was factory, but at that time not installed. When we wanted to put it back, the electrical wires were way to short to fit a switch to the most right position. Only could be fitted left.

After that I saw several other, pretty original cars, with: WEBASTO/BLOWER - HAZARD - FOG

Just took apart and put back together dash switches for my December 65 build -- ( L 2 R) FOG > US HAZARD > HEATER. Original driver's manual also confirms that orientation.

Yep that's it for the switches. For the radio, I believe it's the silver one that just fits the opening.

That's the rub. Bruce Crawford re-did my dash but he didn't fill the hole in all the way-- a bigger hole was cut for the nosepiece of a larger radio over the years. . . sigh. So it's either cover the shafts with an embellisher (the way a Becker would) or send the whole dash back for veneer. Maybe I'll trade the Blaupunkt for a nice Becker and call it cool, the COA didn't list a radio anyway.

Or a radio delete plate? Did you mount an antenna yet?

John, just to add confirmation, my switches are L to R fog/ hazard/ webasto on my 67S. As to the license plate bracket to the best of my knowledge, from having worked at dealers in the early seventies, the rear bracket was whatever that particular dealer wanted to use, generally the cheap single plane mount one. Fastened with sheet metal screws I might add!! I now generally mount (if the panel is virgin) four machine screws into 4 nut-zerted holes, with rubber backing to keep off the paint. Hardware store faucet washers work great,,,,,I know, I know,,,,but who's going to see them!!!!
