    Calling all Fuch police

My car came to me with 15x7 alloys with 3 prong center caps. When the rims were recently removed for refinishing I finally looked at the p/n and was surprised to see that the p/n was a -11 rather than the -01 I was expecting. My understanding is that the 01's fit the 3 prong cap while the 11's fit the ring cap. The date stamps are 3 @ 11/76 and 1 @ 10/76. So I ask you how is it that my seemingly unmodified 3 prong caps fit my seemingly unmodified -11s?

They probably bent the prongs out. I have seen it on many wheels when people are looking for no hole caps and can't find the ring no hole.

Thanks for the feedback. Harvey's suggestion seems most probable. I will say that the 3 prongs fit snugly in all four rims so whomever bent them did so effectively.

Those look like the centres that you'd expect with a later (.11) 7" Fuchs.

From memory the central hole size was ~ 65mm for the 3-prong centre cap & ~ 70mm for the ring-type c/cap.

    Andy/Harvey,

Here is a link to a previous posting of Andy's which pictures of each. Scroll down to post #9.

There is a subtle difference but it is visibly different.

    Thanks again.

It now appears that I need to locate ring style center caps. Where might I find them?
