    Are those maybe tin weights instead of lead? Thus the reason they need more. It is part of an environmentally-friendly push in many places.

    Yes, in Germany (or in the EU) lead weights are NLA as they have been banned.

    They should use tungsten. Much denser. I have some tungsten and bismuth fishing "bullet" style weights. The little ones you crimp onto the line have to be tin, though, since it is more ductile.
