    Donohue 1973 IROC RSR

This car was displayed at the new Porsche dealership in Beachwood Ohio. Part of Penske Auto group.
I thought the IROC cars were 1974 models, but the info posted says 1973?

I think they were leftover 73s that were converted to short hood. They were very early 74 models, since they were delivered with the ducktail, later changed to the aptly named IROC whale tail.

I have car 0025 , listed as originally being the grand-prix white car.

I believe Mark Donahue was given an RS 3.0 by the factory , I do not know if it was this car. Or a street version. Many moons ago , one of his son's was selling one ....Mike I believe. I don't remember anything IROC being mentioned , so I really believe it was a street version. Nor did I get serious enough to get a serial number (I don't think). I have a photo buried somewhere probably as I had inquired. I will see if I can find it sometime , and post it here if so.

If it was another car which was available then , besides a few with original owners which are not listed on the chassis lists. There are also cars 460 9001 - 9016 , which are never listed in the RSR/RS 3.0 lists. Nor spoken about anywhere.

    Hi Ron,

Autoweek Vol 23 No 45 dated 17Nov73 highlighted the last IROC race and showed the cars to be identical in appearance to the one you photographed.

Car was built in 1973, but it's a MY74. A friend of mine owned the yellow one, which was then sold to a well known Porsche collecting comedian.

I did not think I needed to include it. The number I posted above about the recorded Grand Prix white IROC car was 460 0025.
