Since 1963 I've been driving in the snow and taking cars into snowy parking lots to find out the cars' rotation, steering, traction and general handling characteristics. It really helps when dodging other crazy drivers who barely know which end of the appliance they're driving is the front. Invaluable in the real world when things get dicey.

LMAO! And I'm going to be taking my daughter out on the ice this year for the very reasons you state. Nobody can be a good driver without experiencing what it's like to go sideways, brake and accelerate in a controlled manner on a low-grip surface.
