    Searching for case # 328052

I know that it's a needle in a haystack, but this community seems to work miracles all of the time.

Anyone have a lead on this case?

    thank you.

    Mike,

Could you check your case number again. I think 68 cases should be 7 numbers instead of 6. I'm guessing it's 3280052. I ran across some 68 cases and was checking to see if any matched yours. Nope, they're all older, no matter what your number is.

While you're searching, if you run across 3281462 or if you find a 408xxxx case (68S for a targa), please let me know.

    Von,

First, you are absolutely correct in your assertion and your guess -- the proper case # is 3280052, as you guessed. I guess I wasn't paying sufficiently close attention. Thanks for checking your stock.

Second, I absolutely will let you know if I run across #3281462 or any case with a 408 prefix.

I've made a note in my PDA with your engine case #'s, and I'll ask the guys around here who have some cases laying around.

You also gave me another thought. Although I suspect that it would be a lot of work, I wonder if the Registry would be interested in sponsoring a database of case #'s and contact information. It would seem to be a good service for the members and would certainly promote authenticity over time. I'd guess that after a few years of exhcanging data, we'd have a fairly strong set of forensic evidence to reunite cases with chassis, but maybe the need isn't there.

Anyway, thanks for making me think about the issue differently, Von. Hope you're doing well.
