    1970 911 e coupe production numbers

    Hi,

I own a 1970 911 e sunroof coupe (VIN # 9110200225) and I am trying to determine the total number of 911 e sunroof coupes produced in 1970. My research is at a crossroads as the sources I found have inconsistent information. One states that there were a total of 1088 e coupes produced in 1970 and another a total of 1304. Any idea which is the correct total number?

Also, is there any way to determine how many 1970 e coupes with the sunroof were produced?

I haven't been able to find any further information despite much searching.....

    Thank you for your help!

729 911E cars were imported to the US in 1970. I have no further info just these import numbers.

The early 911E registry gives production numbers for 1970 of 1304 coupes built but also 667 Karmann coupes for a total of 1971. Very similar numbers to what Davep came up with. Perhaps the slight difference is down to counting pre-production units or not.
I don't recall seeing a breakdown on the number of coupes that came with a sunroof.

Marc, et al: my information shows that from about 1969 the production VIN start at 0011 thus reducing the # built by 10 in most cases. Apparently, in more recent years the VIN start is much higher.

Thank you - very helpful! Looks like the information is the total, including the Karmann bodies, of 1951 coupes produced (adjusting the E registry numbers for the serial number starting at 011 per DaveP) with 729 imported to the US and a subset of those totals with the sunroof option.
