    Instrument Glass Cleaning.

The gauges glass needs cleaning on the inside ( rev counter, speedo etc. ) I have tried to remove the black painted outer bezel which secures the glass without success, is there a method of doing this without damaging the bezel.
    Thanks.

yes. carefully. you will get a bit of kinking around the edge but can be kept to a minimum and usually not seen once re-installed. get a small flat screwdriver and work your way around prying up on the crimped edge. usually takes me three times around to get the ring off. just do a little bit each time. to reinstall. put back on and push on by hand until it holds. then get a couple of pieces of 2x4. roll the gauge edge-wise between the two pices of wood with a bit of pressure to tighten up the ring.

I suggest you first practice on an old gauge and protect your hands with a pair of mechanics gloves. Put the gauge face down on a thick towel. Other tips: Pay attention to the glass bevel and reinstall in same direction, and make sure center chrome cone on gauge face is tightly secured as the original glue loses its grip over time.

    Good luck!

You should buy new seals that will keep moisture out, go between the glass and the housing.....a shame nobody sells the bezel, as it would be easy to make a wood block or other tool to recrimp, but the in crimping process is a chore.
