    Sport Seat Base Reproduction

Has anyone been working on or completed a reproduction of the early (67/68 ) sport seat base? If not ,would anyone be interested in a set?
    Thanks,

I had a few small batches fabricated a couple of years ago but it was quite labour-intensive to get all of the specific details correct which, in turn, meant that it wasn't a cost-effective project.

I have been thinking of trying again with a different fabricator but I haven't done anything about it yet & I'm in the UK anyway.

I was speaking to someone (US-based) recently whilst over for RRIV who metioned that he was investigating the possibility of fabricating some but I don't know how far 'down the route' he is.

I made a fixed base a few years back, it was pretty easy but kind of labor intensive. Probably the most complicated part besides the cutting and welding was putting the round stock in a lathe to thread the ends. I posted pics in a thread here when I made it.

Quite a few people have threatened to do this... me included. I've had quotes that make the project very feasible from the cost per unit standpoint... but that's only because the minimum was soooo high! So the cost for the total project was more than I wanted to bite off at the time. I was also going to do the slider assembly for the 67/68 seats (buckets too), as part of the project.

A recent conversation has led me to believe that I might actually get this project off the ground "soon". I will keep you all posted. In the meantime, I would guess you can probably get someone to make one for around $500 that looks pretty authentic, and I think if you did a request here you could probably get someone to sell one for that price or a little it more.
