BaT Description:
This 1966 Porsche 911 has been in California and Arizona since 1969 per the seller and was purchased by the seller in August 2014. Restored shortly thereafter, the car was disassembled down to a bare shell and media blasted. A repaint in correct Bahama Yellow was then completed along with refreshes of the suspension, brakes, and interior as detailed below. The non-original 2.0L flat-six is from a 1968 911 and was rebuilt using 2.2L S pistons in addition to many other new components. The car has been driven just 500 miles since the engine was completed, and on May 5, 2017 it received 223.9 out of 225 possible points at the PCA Southern Arizona annual concours. This 911 is now being offered with $67k in records dating back to 1971, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Arizona title. The Bahama Yellow repaint appears to have been executed to a high standard, with the seller reporting all factory panels are present aside from the right-front fender and passenger-side floor pan, which had been damaged by road debris. During the restoration, the suspension received new wheel bearings, bushings, Koni shocks, and more. The brake system was also gone through, while 15″ factory wheels with hubcaps wear Michelin tires at all four corners. The seller has known this car since 1974 states that it was purchased by its second owner in Southern California in 1970. Due to lifetime residency in California and Arizona, the car only required minor repairs after being stripped to bare metal. All bodywork was hammered out, with lead used in a few minor places as filler.
The interior is correct Black Leatherette per the CoA and was refreshed with new carpeting and door panels. A new headliner has also been installed and the seats were reupholstered by Autos International Inc. of San Diego, California. New rubber seals were fitted throughout following the repaint. All factory trim appears to be present, and the odometer currently displays 45,867 miles. The 5-speed manual gearbox is said to shift well.
The non-original 2.0L flat-six is an aluminum example from a 1968 911 that was rebuilt 500 miles ago by Redline Service of Tucson, Arizona. 2.2L S pistons were utilized along with new valve guides, chains, bearings, and other components. The Weber carburetors were also rebuilt. Redline is reported to have maintained this car since 1980 per the included 46 years of service records. A new MSD ignition system was recently fitted, and the seller drove the car 200 trouble-free miles after it won an award at the May 2017 the PCA Southern Arizona annual concours. Underneath, this Porsche appears to be quite clean throughout following the restoration. Several additional in-process pictures are shown in the photo gallery. The Porsche CoA can be seen above and confirms Bahama Yellow as the original color. Approximately $67k in service records dating back to 1971 will also be included.

One of only 268 believed made for the US in 1968, this soft-window 911 Targa was completed on August 18, 1967. As per a copy of the Kardex that accompanies the car, the Targa was finished in the distinctive color of Ossi Blue with a black interior, and delivered with loudspeaker, antenna, bumper guards, and chrome-plated wheels. Under current ownership, a comprehensive restoration was completed by Porsche specialist Kundensport in Oxnard, California. Finished at the beginning of 2017, the car is presented in its original color, while the numbers-matching 2.0-liter engine was, according to the consignor, rebuilt to S-specification. Autobahn Interiors, in San Diego, reupholstered the interior with the addition of Pepita cloth seat inserts and optional headrests.
